Yellow-rumped Warbler vs. Golden-crowned Kinglet
There’s never been a more timely matchup. These birds are all about migration in March.
When I think of these two, I think of shivering in the cold on the kind of day where the woods are flooded with snow melt and there’s hardly a hint of spring. Kind of like this week, at least in these parts.
Some years, I find the Yellow-rumped Warbler incredibly abundant. They’ll linger around well into May. Then I go up to northern climes and get to hear them on their breeding grounds.
But Golden-crowned Kinglet delights most everyone it encounters. I’m going with the tiny member of the family Regulidae.
Pick: Golden-crowned Kinglet
