Winter Wren vs. American Woodcock
What can be said about these two that hasn’t already been said? Winter Wren romped to a surprisingly easy win over Bald Eagle in the first round. American Woodcock, a fan favorite, made it past Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. The duo are both early spring delights.
As we’ve said before, woodcocks are just so strange. Their towering aerial displays are hard to top, though, and one of the more exhilarating natural phenomena in March.
Short-eared Owl cruised past Golden-crowned Kinglet yesterday, which has me worried about small passerines that like the woods.
