Was in Chicago area for Christmas but back in San Antonio now. My first bird of the year was a Western Scrub Jay. Two of them can really down a lot of suet! Happy New Birding Year to All!
- Comments: "Noticed at the feeder because it was so pale and sitting more upright than the house sparrows. Pale beige stripe on head was easy to see. Shy at the feeder. It is 22 degrees here, wind advisory and snow. It shouldn’t be here."
That was exactly how I saw my first Thrasher, in a treetop yelling his head off.

That is a great first bird. Mine were the House Sparrows clustered around the feeders, with some Dark-eyed Juncos following soon after.
Clapping! Bravo!

Mourning dove!!!! Love them. Also great pictures!
I clapped. And I really loved sparrows too. They are beautiful in their slight differences and have wonderful songs.

That is a very late record! It should have been in Mexico for months by now.
